Try telling someone that they are sabotaging their own success. You will be met with a quick and emphatic denial.
When you are the impediment to your own success, you will have to move out of the way. It will be hard for you to recognize the things that you are doing to keep from achieving your goals. Maybe you are afraid of reaching the top. That fear can keep many people from pushing forward.
First, you will have to admit that you have been your own worst enemy. Perhaps you have hesitated in asking your boss for that promotion. You are unsure of your own worth, so how could your boss put his trust in you. Start by stepping back from your self. Assess your strengths and weaknesses. If you don't actively seek out your success, it won't just come knocking on your door.
People, who are into self-sabotage, are notorious procrastinators. They continually miss deadlines and are late for important appointments. They always have a good excuse, but that won't get them very far up the success ladder.
You will have to decide if you really want to succeed. If the answer is yes, then you can turn things around for yourself. It is never too late to break through any walls you have built.
Once you get out of your own way, you will see things change at a rapid pace. Determine to be on time for appointments. Never put off your projects until tomorrow. Today is the beginning of the rest of your life. Step out into the world with a new found confidence in your abilities. Take pride in your accomplishments and people will notice your self confidence. Don't be afraid that people will think you are arrogant. Every true successful person has a touch of arrogance about them.
