Instructions/Setup:

This is a fun and competitive warm-up practice designed to get players moving and engaged. Teams of 3 players will run toward a set of cones arranged in a triangle. Each player must place their ball on one of the cones. Once all 3 players have successfully placed their ball on the cones, one player will use a final ball to knock all 3 balls off the cones, in a bowling-style game.

To ensure the practice runs smoothly, make sure the cones are positioned closely together in a triangle. This will add a competitive edge, as players will need to be more precise and cautious when placing their balls onto the cones.

Coaching Notes:

• Team Coordination – Players should communicate well to coordinate their movements and make sure each ball is placed on a cone quickly and accurately. The faster they work together, the sooner they’ll get to the "bowling" phase.

• Accuracy and Control – When placing the ball onto the cones, players should focus on accuracy, as missing the cone means they’ll need to run back and retry. Encourage a calm approach to ensure proper placement without rushing.

• Bowling Accuracy – The player designated to knock the balls off should focus on controlling their shot, aiming to hit all three balls. A smooth, controlled throw will increase their chances of knocking them all off in one go.

• Encourage Friendly Competition – Make sure to maintain the competitive aspect by timing the practice or offering points for how quickly the team can knock off all three balls. This will add excitement and engagement for the players.

Progression 1: Add Time Pressure

Introduce a countdown clock and challenge teams to place their balls and knock them off within a limited time. This will increase the urgency and competitiveness, encouraging faster execution.

Focus: Improve teamwork and communication while under time pressure.

Progression 2: Increase the Distance

Increase the distance from which players must place their balls onto the cones. This will force them to adjust their throwing and placement techniques, adding a layer of challenge to the practice.

Focus: Develop accuracy and control, even when the task becomes more difficult.
