Instructions/Setup:

In a 20x20 yard grid, two teams of 4 players each have their own ball and direction of play. One team works horizontally (left to right), while the other works vertically (top to bottom). Each team has two target players positioned on their respective end lines, with the remaining two players moving freely inside the grid.

The objective for each team is to work the ball from one end to the other, using their target players and central roamers in continuous passing combinations. Players are encouraged to use movement, rotation, and awareness to maintain possession and progress play in their designated direction while coexisting with the other team in the same space.

Coaching Notes:

• Directional Awareness – Players must scan constantly to recognize teammates’ positions and target zones relative to their direction of play.

• Sharp Movement After Pass – Encourage players to move into new supporting positions immediately after releasing the ball to maintain fluidity and options.

• Rotational Support – Inside players should rotate between high and low positions, offering dynamic angles to link the play between end line players.

• Composure in Crowded Space – With two balls in play, reinforce control, communication, and spatial awareness to minimize collisions and maintain purpose.

Progression 1: One-Touch to Target Player

Restrict the final pass into the target player to one touch only, forcing quicker decisions and cleaner buildup play through the central roamers.

Focus:

Improves technical precision and movement timing in tight areas while demanding better communication and awareness.

Progression 2: Neutral Player Support in the Grid

Add one neutral player inside the grid who can support both teams, creating overloads and encouraging quick combination play in traffic.

Focus:

Enhances use of the extra player to create space and improve tempo, while increasing decision-making under dual-team interference.
