Instructions/Setup:
This individual practice is designed for a centre forward to work on set play combinations, sharp movement, and finishing from various angles. The drill begins with the forward dropping short to receive a pass to feet. They then play a one-touch set pass into one of two mini goals positioned nearby. Immediately after, they spin sharply and collect one of three stationary balls placed in left, centre, and right channels before finishing into a full-sized goal.
Coaching Notes:
• Check Shoulder Before Dropping – Be aware of space and surroundings before receiving, with constant scanning and body orientation to stay sharp.
• Crisp Set Pass with Realism – Focus on a firm, accurate set pass into the mini goal with proper weight and technique, simulating a real in-game layoff.
• Explosive Movement After Release – Accelerate into space immediately after the set, using a sharp directional change to separate from a defender.
• Decisive First Touch and Finish – Approach each ball with a clean first touch and adjust body shape quickly for a composed, clinical finish.
