Instructions/Setup:
This unopposed full back drill focuses on receiving high balls, carrying forward, and making passing decisions in the final third. The full back starts in a wide position and receives a high ball dropped into their zone. After controlling the ball, they drive forward with a few touches before passing into one of two mini goals. One mini goal represents a pass down the line to the winger, and the other simulates a pass inside to a central midfielder.
Coaching Notes:
• Judge Flight and Position Body Early – Move into position and adjust body shape early to deal cleanly with the high ball.
• Use First Touch to Set Forward Drive – Cushion the ball into space to flow into the next action and gain momentum forward.
• Lift Head Quickly to Scan Passing Options – Be aware of space and the two target options as you drive forward.
• Time and Angle Final Pass with Intent – Deliver a sharp, accurate pass that replicates match tempo and direction to winger or CM.
