Instructions/Setup:

This technical practice takes place in a small 10 by 10-yard area and focuses on developing players' short, sharp one and two-touch passing combinations. The drill emphasizes precision, movement, and the ability to combine effectively under pressure while integrating sprinting to add intensity.

In the practice, four players are involved, with each working in a tight space to complete a series of quick passes. The objective is to maintain high passing accuracy and awareness while executing movements that facilitate smooth passing sequences.

Coaching Notes:

• One and Two-Touch Passing: Players should aim to use one-touch passing as much as possible to keep the ball moving quickly. Two-touch passes are allowed but should still be quick and purposeful to maintain the flow.

• Go and Show Movement: Players should always perform a "go and show" movement before receiving the pass. This means moving to create an option for the passer and then showing a clear target for the ball.

• Concentration & Position Switching: Encourage players to concentrate and switch positions at the right times, ensuring they don’t become static in their play. Movement should be constant to create passing angles and open space.

• Use Both Feet: Players should be comfortable using both feet when passing. This ensures flexibility and allows for faster and more accurate passing in tight spaces.

• Timing of Movements: The timing of movements is crucial. Players should time their runs to meet the ball at the right moment, ensuring they don’t leave too much space or create a predictable pattern for defenders.

• Communication: Constant communication is key. Players should call for the ball, give feedback, and signal their next movements to maintain fluidity in the practice.

Progression 1: Add Sprinting After Each Pass:

After each pass, players must sprint to a designated spot (e.g., the opposite corner) to increase intensity. This simulates real-game situations where players need to move quickly after making a pass.

Focus: Enhancing passing accuracy under pressure and improving overall fitness and movement off the ball.

Progression 2: Add a Defender:

Introduce a passive defender into the drill who can attempt to intercept passes or put pressure on players. This progression forces attackers to adjust their movements and passing accuracy under defensive pressure.

Focus: Quick decision-making and maintaining high passing quality while under pressure from a defender.
