Instructions/Setup:

This drill is a 2v2 in the central zone, with 2 bounce players positioned   on either side of the grid (1 on each side). The players in possession can   use the bounce player who is positioned ahead of them on the line, creating a   3v2 advantage when in possession.

The grid is marked with a dotted line across the middle, which restricts   teams from scoring in their own half. This encourages effective link-up play   and rewards teams out of possession for high pressing.

To score, there are 4 mini-goals, 2 located at either end of the grid. The   bounce players will be positioned on the line between the mini-goals,   ensuring they can contribute to the play without being static.

Coaching Notes:

   • Use of Bounce Players: The bounce players should be utilized   strategically to create overloads, allowing the team in possession to break   through defensive lines with quick passes.

   • High Pressing: Encourage the defending team to press high up the pitch,   as they cannot score from their own half. This creates a reward system for   pressing and forces turnovers.

   • Link-Up Play: Players in possession need to focus on quick, precise   passing to the bounce players and the teammates to create attacking   opportunities.

   • Spacing and Movement: The attacking players should focus on maintaining   good width and depth in their movements to support both the ball carrier and   the bounce players effectively.

Progression 1: Limit Bounce Player Touches:

Restrict the bounce players to 1 or 2 touches, forcing the team in   possession to think quicker and maintain fluidity in their attacking   play.

Focus: Increases tempo, helps develop quicker decision-making, and   encourages sharper passes between players.

Progression 2: Defender Zone:

Introduce a defender or neutral player who can enter the central zone to   disrupt the play or intercept passes, making it a more dynamic 2v3   scenario.

Focus: Forces the attacking team to adjust their tactics and be more   creative with their passes, improving their ability to break down defenses   under pressure.
