Antwerp Fitness & Finish Rondo
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 14 | Pitch size: 40x36
This fitness & rondo drill combines high-intensity pressing, quick transition play, and finishing in a dynamic, game-realistic setting. Two defenders enter a central rondo area from opposite ends of the pitch, working together in a 2v6 to regain possession. If they win the ball, they break out of the grid to finish into either of two full-size goals. If the six retain the ball for 12 passes, the defenders must sprint back to tag in the next pair.
This drill tests defensive pressing, team possession under pressure, and quick-fire finishing actions while building fitness and mental sharpness.
• Press Aggressively and Communicate Constantly
Work as a pair to close passing lanes, press with intensity, and stay connected to force errors from the team in possession.
• Transition with Purpose After Winning the Ball
React instantly, drive toward goal at pace, and make decisive finishing choices to convert turnovers into goals.
• Keep Possession with Tempo and Smart Support Play
For the 6 players in possession, focus on sharp ball speed, clever movement, and intelligent angles to maintain rhythm under pressure.
• Recover Quickly and Tag Teammates with Speed
If unable to win the ball, defenders must switch mentality fast and sprint back to maintain the tempo of the practice and their physical output.
Lower Pass Target to 8
Reduce the number of passes required before the defenders rotate out to raise intensity and decision-making demands.
Focus:
Increases pressing urgency, sharpens reaction times, and challenges possession players to stay composed under quicker pressure.
One-Touch Limit for Possession Team
Introduce a one-touch condition for players in possession to add technical difficulty and test awareness and positioning.
Focus:
Improves technical sharpness, quick thinking, and spatial discipline when under extreme pressure in tight spaces.
