Bayern Finishing from Knockdowns
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 9 | Pitch size: 50x36
This unopposed finishing drill begins with a central player playing a pass out wide to a winger. The winger receives the ball, cuts inside onto their stronger foot, and delivers a floated cross toward the back zone of the penalty area.
Two attackers make timed runs into the box—one attacks the back zone to meet the cross and provide a knockdown, while the second attacker arrives centrally to finish first-time off the knockdown.
Play alternates from both wings, and players should rotate through each role to ensure repetition of various attacking movements and finishing techniques.
• Timing of the Run: Emphasize the importance of the first attacker timing their arrival to meet the cross in stride without overrunning the ball.
• Communication: Attackers should call for the knockdown and clearly signal where they want the ball delivered.
• Winger’s Delivery: Focus on quality of the cross—encouraging floated deliveries into the back zone with enough hang time for attackers to adjust.
• Finishing Technique: The second attacker should stay composed, adjusting body position to strike cleanly off the knockdown.
Passive Defender on the Knockdown:
Introduce a passive defender between the two attackers to simulate interference and force more accurate knockdowns and quick finishes.
Focus: Sharpens decision-making and spatial awareness in tight areas under light pressure.
Live Defender on the Cross:
Add a live recovering defender who starts next to the winger and attempts to block or pressure the delivery.
Focus: Replicates more game-realistic pressure on the cross and tests attackers’ ability to adapt their runs and finish under pressure.
