Berlin Continuous 2v2

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 8 | Pitch size: 20x20
This high-tempo 2v2 drill is played inside a square grid with goals on each of the four sides. Each pair of players occupies one side of the grid. Teams attack in pairs and immediately transition to defend against the next attacking team, creating a continuous rotation.
The drill works in a clockwise pattern—once a 2v2 is completed, the next attacking team (positioned clockwise from the previous attackers) enters to face the new defenders. This format encourages intensity, quick decision-making, and sharp transitions between attacking and defending roles.
• Quick Transitions: Emphasize the importance of reacting quickly from attack to defense, encouraging mental sharpness and urgency.
• Communication: Teams must communicate constantly—both in and out of possession—to maintain shape and work together effectively.
• Defensive Compactness: Defenders should stay close and support each other to reduce space and block shots or passes.
• Attack with Purpose: Encourage attackers to combine quickly and be decisive with their efforts on goal.
• Positional Awareness: Players must remain aware of the clockwise rotation and be ready to enter or exit the grid at the right time.
Add Time Limit on Attacks:
Each attacking team must shoot within 10 seconds of entering the grid. If they don’t, possession switches automatically.
Focus: Encourages quicker decision-making and more urgency in attack.
Introduce a Joker Player:
Add a neutral player inside the grid who always plays with the team in possession to create a 3v2 situation.
Focus: Promotes combination play and supports movement, while challenging defenders to cover more space.
