Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 7 | Pitch size: 30x20

  • This 3v1 transfer rondo involves 3 teams of 2 players plus 1 neutral player. Play starts with a 2v1 in one grid, with the neutral player creating a 3v1 situation for the team in possession. The players in possession must make 3 passes before attempting to transfer the ball across the grids.

The neutral player can travel freely across both grids, ensuring the team in possession is always playing a 3v1. If either of the 2 defenders wins possession, they switch with the 2 players who lost possession, continuing the drill without interruption.

  • • Ball Movement: Encourage quick and accurate passing, ensuring that the team in possession maintains control while looking for opportunities to transfer the ball efficiently.

    • Use of Neutral Player: The neutral player should be used to create overloads and facilitate quick ball movement between grids, helping the team maintain possession.

    • Defensive Pressure: Defenders should work together to apply pressure and anticipate passing lanes, aiming to win the ball and force a switch.

    • Awareness of Space: Players in possession should remain aware of the entire playing area and use the neutral player to stretch the defense, creating more passing options.

  • Add Time Limit:

Introduce a time limit for each transfer. The team in possession must complete the transfer within 10-15 seconds, or possession automatically switches.

Focus: This progression encourages quicker decision-making and faster ball movement, putting pressure on the team to execute under time constraints.

  • Restrict Pass Types:

Restrict the type of passes that can be made (e.g., only one-touch or no long passes).

Focus: This progression emphasizes passing precision and forces players to think creatively while still maintaining control and tempo in the drill.
