Instructions/Setup:

This 2-touch finishing challenge is a fun and competitive activity designed for forwards. A coach or server positioned behind the goal will chip a ball to the edge of the box. Teams of 2 will take turns, with each player in the team allowed one touch. The first player must stop or set the ball, and the second player should finish. Players are rewarded with points for each goal, and the coach can vary the type of ball (high, low, or driven) to add complexity and challenge.

Coaching Notes:

• First Touch: The first player should focus on controlling or setting the ball effectively, preparing it for a clean finish from the second player.

• Finishing Technique: The second player should focus on precise and powerful finishing, ensuring they direct the ball on target with the right technique (e.g., inside of the foot, laces).

• Timing and Communication: Players should communicate clearly to ensure smooth transitions between touches and to time the set-up and finish effectively.

• Adaptability: Encourage players to adjust to different types of balls (high, low, driven) and develop their ability to finish in various situations.

Progression 1: Add Defenders:

Introduce one defender who can try to intercept the pass or block the shot. The attacking team must complete the 2-touch sequence while dealing with defensive pressure.

Focus: This progression challenges players to finish under pressure, improving composure and decision-making in tight situations.
