Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 9 | Pitch size: 40x30

  • In this mastery drill, 2 teams of 3 players will be in possession, while the final team of 3 is classified as the catchers. On the coach's whistle, all the attackers must dribble from one corner to any of the other 3 corners while the catchers attempt to win possession of the ball.

If the catchers win possession, they will switch places with the team that lost the ball, keeping the drill dynamic and competitive.

  • • Dribbling Technique: Players should focus on using different dribbling techniques, such as changes of direction, speed, and close control, to evade the catchers.

    • Spatial Awareness: Attackers must be aware of their positioning and the positioning of the catchers, choosing the best corner to dribble to for maximum safety.

    • Defensive Pressure: Catchers should work together to press and intercept, using teamwork to force attackers into mistakes or regain possession.

    • Composure: Attackers should stay calm under pressure, using their dribbling skills and vision to maintain possession while moving to a new corner.

  • Add a Time Limit:

Introduce a time limit (e.g., 30 seconds) for the attackers to make it to a corner. If they don’t successfully reach a corner within the time, they switch roles with the catchers.

Focus: This progression increases urgency and encourages quicker decision-making and dribbling in tight situations.
