Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 10 | Pitch size: 30x20

  • This multi-phase attacking transition practice begins with a 1v1 duel toward two mini goals. Once the first phase concludes (either by a goal, ball out of play, or time limit), a second attacker joins in to create a 2v1 scenario against the original defender. After that attack is completed, an opposing attacker enters to form a final 2v2 phase, allowing for continuous play and multiple attacking/defensive transitions. The flow of the practice encourages players to adapt quickly and make effective decisions in evolving game situations.

  • • 1v1 Attacking – Encourage creativity and quick decision-making. Players should use body feints, changes of pace, and clever touches to create separation and finish into either mini goal.

    • Transition to Overload – In the 2v1 phase, attackers should exploit the numerical advantage with sharp movement and precise passing. Look for quick combinations or isolating the defender 2v1.

    • 2v2 Phase Awareness – When the game shifts to 2v2, emphasize scanning and communication. Attackers must recognize when to combine and when to drive individually; defenders must work together to stay compact and cover.

    • Mental Transition – Players must be prepared to shift roles quickly—attacking one moment, defending the next. Reacting decisively during transitions is key to success in each phase.

  • Time Limit for Each Phase
Set a short time limit (e.g., 5–6 seconds) for each attacking phase to encourage quicker decisions and more urgency in both attacking and defending.

    Focus:
Promotes tempo, transition sharpness, and game-like speed of play.

  • Directional Goals in Final Phase
Replace mini goals with a large goal and a goalkeeper in the 2v2 phase to create a more game-realistic finishing scenario.

    Focus:
Improves finishing in tight spaces and requires greater precision and awareness in the final third.
