Everton 1v1 Plus Neutrals
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 6 | Pitch size: 12x12
This drill focuses on 1v1 attacking skills while utilizing two neutrals to create a 3v1 overload in favor of the player in possession. The attacking player must beat the defender using quick dribbling, feints, and creativity, aiming to score in one of the two mini goals on the defender’s side of the field. The neutrals, positioned outside the grid, can be used to support the attacker by providing additional passing options but are restricted to one touch per pass.
The attacker can pass to a neutral to pull the defender out of position and create space for an attack. The goal for the player in possession is to combine dribbling and passing to bypass the defender and take a clear shot on goal.
• Attacker's Dribbling Focus: Encourage attackers to use quick changes of direction and feints to deceive the defender. They should focus on keeping the ball close and recognizing when to take on the defender or pass to a neutral.
• Neutrals' Role: Neutrals should help overload the defender by offering passing options. Encourage attackers to use them effectively to draw defenders out of position and create space to attack.
• Timing and Decision-Making: Stress the importance of timing when to dribble or pass to a neutral. Attackers should read the defender’s movements to decide the best moment to make their move or pass.
• Defender's Patience and Positioning: Defenders should focus on staying in front of the attacker and forcing them into less dangerous areas without committing too early. Positioning is key to maintaining pressure.
• Creating Space for the Shot: Once the attacker beats the defender, encourage them to take advantage of the space and aim for a clean shot on goal, maintaining awareness of their shooting angle.
Add More Defenders:
Introduce a second defender to create a 3v2 situation. This encourages the attacker to be more strategic in using the neutrals and making quick decisions.
Focus: Enhances decision-making under pressure and forces attackers to read defensive shapes.
