Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 4 | Pitch size: 15x15

  • This fun warm-up practice allows players to compete head-to-head in an unopposed manner. The attacking players must sprint around the grid to the ball, while the defender sprints around the grid to the mini goals. The attacker must attempt to pass into either of the 2 mini goals with 1 touch, while the defender attempts to protect the 2 mini goals and block any forward pass.

  • • Quick Reactions – The attacking player should focus on quickly reaching the ball and making an immediate decision on which mini goal to target. Quick reactions and decision-making will be key in this fast-paced practice.

    • Defensive Awareness – The defender must focus on positioning themselves between the attacker and the mini goals, anticipating the pass and blocking it if possible. Quick lateral movement and reading the attacker's intentions are important.

    • Passing Accuracy – The attacker should aim for a precise, 1-touch pass into the mini goals, ensuring the ball is played with accuracy and power to beat the defender.

    • Recovery Speed – Both the attacker and defender should be encouraged to recover quickly. The attacker needs to focus on being first to the ball, while the defender should concentrate on quickly getting into position to block the pass.

  • Introduce Competition

To make the practice more competitive, introduce scoring. For every successful pass into a mini goal, the attacker scores a point. The defender scores a point by blocking the pass or intercepting the ball.

Focus: Increased competitiveness and urgency to execute under pressure.

  • Add Time Limit

Set a time limit for each round. The attacker has a set amount of time to score, while the defender works to prevent it. This creates a sense of urgency and pushes players to react faster.

Focus: Time management and rapid decision-making.
