Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 10 | Pitch size: 60x40

  • This unopposed technical passing pattern takes place within the central third of the pitch. The focus is on developing players' ability to execute line-breaking passes and switch play effectively under minimal pressure. Players work continuously through the pattern, concentrating on body shape, timing of movement, and quality of pass to facilitate quick, efficient changes of direction across the field.

  • • Receiving at an Angle – Players should open up their body to receive passes on the back foot, allowing them to play forward or across the pitch seamlessly.

    • Speed of Play – Encourage players to move the ball quickly, with minimal touches, to replicate the tempo needed in game situations.

    • Passing Quality – Emphasize the importance of firm, accurate passes to maintain the rhythm of the switch and avoid breaking momentum.

    • Awareness Before Receiving – Players should scan the pitch before receiving to prepare their next action and ensure smooth transitions between passes.

  • One-Touch Passing

Players must complete the pattern using only one touch where possible, forcing quicker decision-making and sharper technical execution.

Focus: Increasing the tempo of play and encouraging players to think ahead.

  • Directional Play

Introduce a directional element, where players must switch play twice before completing a set sequence, simulating breaking out of compact areas.

Focus: Developing structured movement patterns and improving the timing of switches
