Instructions/Setup:

n this drill, the attacking player will receive two balls from the coach in quick succession. The player starts by receiving the first ball and engages in a 1v1 with a defender. Once the first 1v1 goes dead, the coach serves the second ball immediately into the attacker, who then plays another 1v1 scenario, either against the same defender or a new one. This drill is designed to enhance the player's ability to quickly recover and transition between offensive situations while maintaining focus.

The drill encourages quick thinking and sharp decision-making, as the attacker must immediately react to the second ball without much time to rest or reset. It mimics real-game scenarios where a player may need to quickly recover from one challenge and immediately face another.

Coaching Notes:

• 1v1 Technique: The attacker should focus on using quick changes of direction, body feints, and pace to beat the defender in the first 1v1. After the first challenge, they must reset quickly to face the second 1v1 with similar intensity.

• Quick Transition: Encourage the attacker to transition smoothly between the two 1v1s. There should be no hesitation between engaging the first defender and facing the second. The ability to recover quickly is key.

• Defender's Positioning: Defenders should focus on closing down space quickly and forcing the attacker into less favorable positions. Defenders should try to force the attacker into predictable movements, making it easier to defend.

• Stay Calm Under Pressure: Encourage the attacker to stay calm and composed, especially after the first 1v1. Rapid transitions can be mentally and physically taxing, so staying focused on the task is important.

Progression 1: Vary the Distance:

Adjust the starting distance between the attacker and the defender to make the initial 1v1 challenge easier or harder.

Focus: Helps the attacker practice different techniques, whether it’s beating a defender from a close distance or creating more space for a longer attack.
