Instructions/Setup:

This rondo is designed to develop quick and intelligent switches of play in possession. The game begins with a 3v1 in one area of the grid while two additional defenders are positioned to screen the central zone. Possession players must complete a set number of passes (e.g., 5) before attempting to switch play to the opposite side.

Switches can be made in two ways—via the wide unopposed players for 1 point, or through the central zone for more points due to the difficulty and risk involved. This setup encourages decision-making, timing, and awareness of space and pressure.

Coaching Notes:

• Encourage Patience & Tempo: Players should maintain good tempo while waiting for the right moment to switch play.

• Scan for Options Constantly: Players must be scanning both wide and central options, weighing up risk versus reward on each pass.

• Reward the Risk: Reinforce the value of switching through the center by highlighting how it can break defensive structures when timed well.

• Quick Transitions Post-Switch: Encourage immediate speed and movement after a successful switch to take advantage of unbalanced defenders.

Progression 1: Limit Touches:

Restrict all players to 2 touches to increase difficulty and encourage quicker decision-making.

Focus: Improves technical sharpness and forces rapid scanning and passing decisions.
