Italy Attacking Overloaded
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 14 | Pitch size: 40x36
Play begins with two attacking players combining before initiating a 2v1 attacking phase on the top side of the grid. The focus here is on creating and exploiting the numerical advantage to generate a quality goal-scoring opportunity.
Once this initial 2v1 is complete, the same two attackers quickly transition back to the original side of the grid, where a cross is delivered from a wide area. The attackers must time their runs and finish the chance, creating a second 2v1 attacking scenario—this time from a wide delivery.
• Play combinations with speed and intent: Encourage quick one-touch or two-touch play to manipulate the defender and create space for a clean finish.
• Exploit the overload quickly: Players should take initiative when in the 2v1, attacking decisively and choosing the right moment to pass or shoot.
• Time movements for the cross: Both attackers must communicate and time their runs based on the crosser's body shape and delivery angle.
• React and transition quickly: Reinforce the importance of high-intensity transitions between phases to mimic game speed and maintain attacking momentum.
Passive to Active Defender on Cross:
Start with a passive defender during the crossing phase, then gradually increase pressure with a fully active defender.
Focus: Improves timing, awareness, and finishing under pressure.
Limit Touches in Build-Up:
Limit the attackers to a maximum of two touches in the combination phase before the 2v1.
Focus: Develops quick decision-making and precise technical execution.
