Practice Breakdown:

This 1-to-1 drill is designed to develop a striker’s ability to attack and finish headers from close range. The player will continuously run into the box to meet throws from behind the goal, attacking the ball with power and accuracy. After each header, they sprint back to a marker outside the penalty area before returning to the box for the next repetition, building both technical skill and fitness.
• Focus on Timing the Run Perfectly to Meet the Ball at Its Highest Point – Good timing maximizes power and accuracy in the header.
• Use Proper Body Positioning to Generate Power and Direct the Ball Effectively – Lean into the ball and direct headers with intention towards goal areas.
• Keep Eyes on the Ball Throughout to Maintain Concentration and Precision – Tracking the ball ensures clean contact and better finishing.
• Maintain High Intensity and Quick Recovery Between Repetitions – Build stamina and sharpness to sustain quality headers during fatigue.
Increase Speed Between Runs and Headers
Push the pace of sprints and headers to simulate game intensity and improve endurance.
