Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 4 | Pitch size: 30x30

  • This technical passing drill involves players positioned in a diamond shape, working on smooth and precise passing combinations around the shape. Players focus on quick, one-touch or two-touch passes, moving the ball efficiently around the diamond. The final player in the sequence is responsible for playing a penetrative pass into one of two mini goals positioned on either side, based on whether the passing pattern has progressed clockwise or anticlockwise.

The drill develops vision, timing, and accuracy, encouraging players to read the game and choose the correct passing option under controlled pressure. It also helps improve communication and off-the-ball movement to create passing angles and support.

  • • Encourage Crisp and Accurate Passing – Ensure each pass is well-weighted to maintain the drill’s tempo and rhythm.

    • Focus on Player Movement Off the Ball – Support and positioning are key to creating clear passing lanes and maintaining flow.

    • Stress Awareness of Passing Direction – Players must recognize whether the pattern is clockwise or anticlockwise to select the correct mini goal for the final pass.

    • Promote Vision and Timing of Penetrative Pass – The last pass should be well-timed and precise to effectively break the defensive line represented by the mini goals.

  • Add a passive defender near the mini goals
Introduce a defender applying light pressure to encourage sharper, more precise final passes and better decision-making in tight spaces.

    Focus:
Develops composure, passing accuracy, and the ability to execute under mild defensive pressure with limited time.
