Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 7 | Pitch size: 1/2 Pitch

  • This unopposed finishing practice begins with three players positioned outside the penalty area, working together to complete a 3rd man attacking combination. The movement should be sharp and purposeful, encouraging quick passing and dynamic support play. The third player in the combination receives the final pass facing forward and drives towards goal.

Before finishing, the attacker engages in a 1v1 action against a mannequin positioned on the edge of the box. This mannequin represents a defender and should be used to simulate a change of direction or skill move before striking at goal unopposed. The focus is on smooth attacking combinations followed by clean execution in front of goal.

  • • Encourage Quality 3rd Man Movement and Support – Ensure players time their runs and passes to break lines and create space for the final receiver.

    • Emphasize Tempo and Rhythm in the Combination – Quick, clean passes with minimal touches keep the move realistic and match-relevant.

    • Focus on Sharp Change of Direction at the Mannequin – Use a decisive skill move to simulate beating a defender before striking the ball.

    • Promote Composure and Clean Technique When Finishing – Players should stay balanced and focus on placement and power during the shot.

  • Add a Passive Defender Behind the Mannequin

Place a passive defender near the mannequin to create light pressure, encouraging the attacker to be more precise with their move and finish.

    Focus:
Improves execution of skill under pressure and enhances timing in attacking decisions, especially in tight spaces.

  • Use Weak Foot for the Final Shot

Instruct the attacker to finish using their weaker foot after the 1v1 movement around the mannequin.

    Focus:
Develops confidence and technical control when finishing with the weaker foot under realistic match-like conditions.
