Instructions/Setup:

In this dynamic small-sided game, three separate pitches are used simultaneously, with each team playing 2v2 (or 3v3), and each game is limited to 1 minute of play. This format creates a fast-paced environment where players must think and act quickly. The focus is on compact and efficient play, with each team trying to outplay their opponents in a short, intense period.

At the end of each minute, the winning team moves up a pitch (unless they're already playing on the top pitch), while the losing team drops to the next pitch (unless they are on the bottom). If the game ends in a draw, the team that scored first is declared the winner. In the case of a 0-0 draw, the highest-ranked team will be considered the loser, adding a unique twist and keeping the pressure on even the top teams.

Coaching Notes:

• Quick Decision Making: Players need to make fast decisions as the game is played at high speed. Encourage players to focus on creating opportunities and exploiting the spaces available in a short amount of time.

• High Intensity: Emphasize constant movement, both with and without the ball, to keep the game quick. Players should always be in motion, creating space and angles for their teammates.

• Mental Focus: The fast-paced nature of the game means players must remain focused and alert, even if the tempo slows down. Quick restarts are crucial to maintaining momentum.

• Teamwork and Communication: Since each game is only 1 minute long, effective communication and team cohesion are essential. Players should constantly be in sync, offering options and support for one another.

Progression 1: Increase Game Length:

Extend the time on each game to 2 minutes to allow players to build more offensive and defensive combinations while maintaining the same level of intensity.

Focus: Develops stamina and consistency in high-pressure situations.

Progression 2: Introduce a 'Power Play' Period:

Designate a 20-second 'power play' where one team has an additional player for the duration of the period, adding an extra tactical challenge for both teams.

Focus: Promotes quick decision making and adaptability under different tactical conditions.
