Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 8 | Pitch size: 5x5

  • This technical warm-up allows players to work in a small space and develop their 1- and 2-touch passing in a high-intensity practice. Variation 1 shows players using 1 touch only before moving out to the side for the next player, while variation 2 shows the players using 2 touches before moving out for the next player. In the 2-touch variation, players must work on close control and slowing the ball, allowing them to make a clean forward pass with their second touch.

  • • Quick Passing Decisions – In the 1-touch variation, players should focus on making quick, decisive passes. They need to scan the field before receiving the ball to ensure they can pass immediately. This will improve their ability to read the game and make fast decisions under pressure.

    • Close Control in 2-Touch – In the 2-touch variation, players should use their first touch to control the ball, setting up their second touch for a clean pass. Emphasis should be placed on close control, ensuring the ball stays within a manageable range for the second touch.

    • Movement off the Ball – Players should always be moving to create passing angles. Whether in the 1-touch or 2-touch variation, players need to position themselves to receive the ball effectively and pass it to the next player without delay.

    • Passing Accuracy – Players should focus on the accuracy of their passes. The second touch should be precise and clean, allowing the next player to receive the ball in the best possible position for their next move.

  • Increase Speed

As players become more comfortable with the 1- and 2-touch variations, increase the intensity and speed of the practice. Players should focus on executing each pass quicker while maintaining accuracy.

Focus: Speed and precision under pressure.

  • Add Pressure from Defenders

Introduce passive defenders to apply light pressure on the players. This encourages players to be more efficient with their touches and passing decisions, simulating a more game-like scenario.

Focus: Handling pressure while maintaining accuracy and quick decision-making.
