Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 9 | Pitch size: 20x20

  • This is a continuous 1v1 dribbling practice where players must constantly transition between attacking and defending roles. Players score points by beating their opponent in a 1v1 and dribbling through either of the 2 gates.

The starting zones are positioned 5 yards behind the main zone, allowing players enough time to transition back into the zone after their attacking phase. This setup ensures that players are always moving and can practice quick recoveries after an attack.

  • • Focus on Quick Transitions – Encourage players to quickly shift from attack to defense. After every attacking phase, they need to transition back quickly to defend the next 1v1.

    • Change of Pace – Players should focus on varying their pace during the dribble, using sudden bursts of speed to beat their opponent. This will keep the defender guessing and improve their attacking skills.

    • Defensive Awareness – In the defensive phase, players should focus on positioning themselves well to prevent the attacker from getting past them. They must balance aggression with control to avoid being easily beaten.

    • Exploit the Space – Once the ball is won, the attacker should look for the quickest path to the gates. Encourage players to use their dribbling skills to exploit the space and get through the gates as efficiently as possible.

  • Add More Gates

Increase the number of gates in the area, giving players more options for scoring. This will force attackers to be more creative with their dribbling and decision-making, while defenders will need to work harder to cover more angles.

Focus: Decision-making and exploiting multiple scoring opportunities.

  • Introduce Time Limit for Transitions

Add a time limit for how quickly players must transition between attacking and defending phases. This will increase the intensity and focus on speed of recovery and attack.

Focus: Speed of recovery and maintaining focus under pressure.
