Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 7 | Pitch size: 16x40

  • Play begins with an attacker dribbling into the first of three zones where they are immediately met by a defender. The attacker must use skill, decision-making, and movement to progress through each of the zones while maintaining control of the ball and fending off defensive pressure.

In each of the three zones, a bounce player is positioned on the side of the grid. The attacker can combine with this bounce player to create a temporary 2v1 advantage. Once the attacker progresses through all zones, they will enter the final area to attempt a shot on goal.

  • • Encourage Positive First Touches: Attackers should use their first touch to drive forward and engage the defender early.

    • Use the Bounce Player Effectively: Look for quick give-and-go combinations with the bounce player to bypass defenders and maintain momentum.

    • Protect the Ball Under Pressure: Attackers must use their body intelligently to shield the ball and stay balanced while dribbling through tight spaces.

    • Timing of Movement: Players should time their approach into each zone to avoid rushing and maximize use of the bounce support.

  • Limit Bounce Player to One Touch:

Restrict the bounce player to only one touch to increase the speed and difficulty of combinations.

Focus: Develops quicker decision-making and sharper execution in tight spaces.

  • Add a Recovery Defender in Final Zone:

Once the attacker enters the final zone, a recovering defender can enter to add pressure before the shot.

Focus: Introduces realistic pressure before goal, encouraging composure and quick execution in finishing.
