Milan Build Up from Throw-Ins
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 14 | Pitch size: 50x60
This playing out from the back drill allows players to develop specific build-up patterns when restarting from a defensive throw-in. The focus is on structured movements, support angles, and quick combinations to escape pressure and transition from defense into attack effectively.
Play begins with a throw-in taken in the defensive third. Once the ball is in play, the team in possession must work to build out and progress play, with the objective of scoring into one of the three mini goals. The pressing team looks to disrupt the build-up, win possession, and immediately counter-attack toward goal.
• Movement Around the Throw-In: Encourage intelligent movement and rotation to provide the thrower with multiple options. Players should look to create space and be aware of pressing triggers.
• First Touch Quality: Emphasize the importance of a clean first touch under pressure, especially in tight areas near the touchline and in the defensive third.
• Building Through Pressure: Focus on supporting angles and communication. The receiving player must recognize pressure cues and combine quickly to bypass the press.
• Defensive Transition: When possession is lost, players must react immediately to counter-press or recover into defensive positions to deny the counter-attack.
Limit Number of Passes Before Scoring:
Allow only a set number of passes before the attacking team must attempt to score in a mini goal.
Focus: Encourages quicker progression, sharper passing, and increased urgency to break lines and exploit space.
