Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 4 | Pitch size: 30x15

  • This 1v1 drill is unopposed, with the attacking player using their physical and technical skills to deceive the defender and create space to score into any of the 3 mini goals. Once the attacker crosses the central line, they must remain locked into that side of the grid, making the practice effectively unopposed. Focus on improving decision-making, ball control, and finishing under pressure.

  • • Deception & Creativity – Encourage the attacking player to use feints, body fakes, and changes of pace to create separation from the defender. Players should work on being unpredictable and constantly shifting their body to confuse the defender.

    • Body Positioning – Teach the attacker to maintain a low center of gravity and stay balanced while making quick, agile movements. Body positioning should allow for quick changes of direction and quick acceleration.

    • Finishing Technique – Players should focus on finishing with composure, whether with a controlled shot, quick placement, or using both feet. Encourage finishing into the corners of the mini goals for greater accuracy.

    • Decision-Making – Attacking players must decide quickly whether to take on the defender, use a change of direction, or shoot. Speed and confidence are key when making these decisions.

  • Add a Time Limit

Introduce a time limit (e.g., 10-15 seconds) for the attacking player to beat the defender and score. This will create a sense of urgency and simulate real-game pressure.

Focus: Improve decision-making under time constraints and speed up the attacking process.

  • Add Passive Defender

Introduce a passive defender who applies light pressure but does not actively challenge the attacker. This allows the attacking player to work on their skills under a slightly more game-like situation, with the focus still on deception and finishing.

Focus: Enhance the attacking player's ability to create space and finish under light defensive pressure.
