Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 4 | Pitch size: 30x30

  • Play starts with a technical passing combination, which ends in a pass into one of the mini-goals. Once the technical aspect has been completed, the practice transitions into a 1v1 attack, where the attacking player will attempt to beat the defender and score into either of the two mini-goals.

  • • Focus on Passing Accuracy – Emphasize the importance of accurate passing during the technical combination. Players should focus on crisp, well-weighted passes to set up the 1v1 situation effectively.

    • Speed of Play – Encourage players to move quickly through the technical part of the drill and transition smoothly into the 1v1 scenario. The quicker they complete the passing sequence, the more pressure they’ll place on the defender in the 1v1 phase.

    • 1v1 Techniques – In the 1v1 scenario, the attacking player should focus on their dribbling techniques, including fakes, changes of pace, and direction to beat the defender. Encourage the attacker to be direct and creative while maintaining control.

    • Defender Positioning – Defenders should work on proper positioning, staying compact, and timing their tackles. They should aim to delay the attacker and force them into less dangerous areas while being careful not to overcommit.

  • Add Time Pressure
To increase the challenge, set a time limit for the technical passing section, with players needing to complete the passing combination and transition into the 1v1 within a set time.
Focus: This progression will increase the intensity, pushing players to move and think quickly, sharpening both their passing and decision-making.

  • Defensive Restrictions
Limit the defender's ability to move or make tackles in the 1v1 phase, allowing the attacker more freedom to try different dribbling moves.
Focus: This progression focuses on developing the attacker’s confidence in 1v1 situations and allows them to experiment with different techniques without the pressure of defending tactics.
