Roma Ball Mastery

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 8 | Pitch size: 30x20
This mastery drill is designed to encourage quick dribbling and 1v1 take-on skills. Players will dribble down the long sides of the grid towards a mannequin and perform a take-on using various dribbling techniques. On the shorter sides, players must dribble through a set of cones to improve their agility and close ball control.
The goal is for players to use quick feet and body movements to evade defenders and keep possession of the ball. They should aim to execute different dribbling skills such as step-overs, feints, or sudden changes of direction when approaching the mannequin. On the shorter sides, players work on tight control and rapid acceleration through the cones.
• Dribbling Techniques: Focus on teaching players different dribbling moves (e.g., step-overs, feints, and quick shifts in direction) to beat the mannequin and defenders.
• Close Control: Emphasize maintaining close control of the ball while dribbling, especially when approaching the cones or tight spaces.
• Acceleration: Encourage players to use bursts of speed after each take-on, quickly accelerating to get past the defender or into a shooting position.
• Body Feints: Use body feints and sudden changes in direction to throw off defenders and create space for the player to move forward.
