Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 6 | Pitch size: 20x30

  • In this technical passing warm-up, 3 mannequins will be positioned along the center of the grid. There will be 2 balls working simultaneously, with each team having a player starting on the central mannequin. The objective is for the teams to play a variety of penetrative passing combinations, working the balls from end to end while maintaining quick and accurate passing.

The players must use a variety of techniques to break the defensive lines, playing one-touch or two-touch passes depending on the situation. The drill encourages teamwork, passing accuracy, and movement off the ball to maintain fluidity and pace.

  • • Quick Passing Combinations: Encourage quick, precise passing to ensure the ball moves from one end to the other with minimal delay. The faster the ball is played, the more effective the drill will be.

    • Penetrative Passing: Focus on using the mannequins to help break defensive lines and progress the ball forward. Players should aim to make penetrative passes to create space and allow the ball to advance.

    • Movement Off the Ball: Players should continuously move to receive the ball and create passing angles. This helps maintain the flow of the drill and ensures the attacking team is constantly in motion.

    • Switching Play: Encourage players to switch the ball from one side to the other to stretch the opposition and create opportunities for forward penetration. The passing team should look for quick transitions and changes in direction.

  • Limit Touches:

Restrict players to a maximum of one or two touches to increase the speed of play and improve decision-making under time pressure. This encourages quicker passing and faster decision-making.

Focus: Enhances the ability to execute fast, accurate passes in tight spaces, promoting effective use of the ball in real-game situations.
