Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 8 | Pitch size: 1/3 Pitch
This fun and fast-paced warm-up game features two teams racing head-to-head on a small-sided pitch. Each team works together to complete a specific passing combination before attempting to chip the ball over one mini goal and into the opposing team’s mini goal. The challenge lies in balancing speed and precision, as teams must execute quick, accurate passes while moving rapidly to outpace their opponents.
Teams earn one point for every successful chipped goal scored, encouraging competitive intensity and teamwork. The drill promotes sharp technical skills, quick decision-making, and effective communication under fun, game-like pressure, setting a lively tone for the session ahead.
• Emphasise the balance between speed and precision during passing – Players should focus on accurate, well-weighted passes while maintaining high tempo and intelligent movement off the ball.
• Encourage quick communication and teamwork – Clear verbal and non-verbal cues help coordinate timing, positioning, and anticipate teammates’ next moves effectively.
• Stress proper technique and timing when chipping the ball – Players must use the correct weight, trajectory, and body positioning to successfully chip the ball over the mini goal.
• Promote competitive spirit while maintaining fair play – Healthy competition increases intensity, focus, and motivation while ensuring respect and sportsmanship throughout.
