Tallinn Semi Opposed Pass & Receive
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 7 | Pitch size: 30x30
This technical passing and receiving practice focuses on developing third-man combinations under semi-opposed pressure. Players work to create space through intelligent movement, dragging a semi-opposed defender or coach out of position before receiving a pass. The emphasis is on recognising when to move, how to manipulate the defender and timing the third-man action to receive facing forward.
The semi-opposed defender or coach plays an active role by applying realistic pressure, ensuring the receiving player must move at game-realistic speed and intensity to create separation. The practice encourages constant rotation, sharp passing and coordinated movement, helping players improve their awareness, timing and ability to receive under pressure.
• Movement to Create Space:
Encourage players to use double movements and changes of direction to drag the defender away from the passing lane.
• Timing of the Third-Man Action:
Reinforce the importance of arriving at the right moment to receive, not too early or too late.
• Body Shape on Reception:
Coach players to open up when receiving so they can play forward quickly and continue the attack.
• Realistic Defensive Pressure:
Ensure the semi-opposed defender or coach applies pressure that forces players to move at match tempo.
Directional Passing Requirement:
Encourage or require the receiving player to play forward immediately after receiving the third-man pass.
Focus:
Develops positive play, forward thinking and realistic build-up behaviours under pressure.
