Trondheim End to End Transition
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 8 | Pitch size: 20x40
This drill focuses on quick attacking and immediate defensive transition. It begins with a 1v1 duel in the top half of the grid where the attacker aims to score or beat the defender. As soon as the play concludes, the attacker must rapidly recover and transition to defend in a new 1v1 situation taking place in the bottom half of the grid. This simulates real-game demands of switching roles instantly from attack to defense.
The challenge tests both players’ fitness, reaction speed, and tactical awareness while emphasizing mental sharpness during fast-paced transitions between offense and defense.
• Emphasize explosive sprinting and recovery speed – Attacker must quickly shift mindset from attacking to defending and recover position rapidly to prevent scoring.
• Encourage controlled but aggressive defensive positioning – Defenders should maintain low body shape and use angles to delay the attacker while staying balanced for quick reactions.
• Stress decision-making under fatigue – Players must stay composed and make smart choices despite physical tiredness caused by repeated sprints and role changes.
• Promote communication and awareness of space – Both players should scan constantly to anticipate opponent’s moves and adjust positioning effectively during transitions.
Add a Touch Limit
Limit players to a maximum of two touches per possession in both 1v1 phases, encouraging quicker decisions, sharper technique, and higher game realism.
Focus: Enhances technical execution speed, quick thinking, and improves ball control and passing accuracy under pressure.
