Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 2 | Pitch size: 30x30
This fitness and conditioning drill combines high-intensity sprinting with technical passing and quick changes of direction. The player begins by sprinting towards a designated mini goal to deliver a precise pass, emphasizing accuracy under fatigue. Immediately after passing, the player completes a fast sprint up and around a pole, focusing on agility and sharp directional change.
Following the pole sprint, the player receives a second ball from a coach or teammate and executes a second pass into a different mini goal. This sequence challenges cardiovascular endurance, explosive speed, and technical skill under physical stress, simulating realistic game demands.
• Emphasise maximal sprint effort to develop explosive speed – Players should push their pace during each sprint to build conditioning, power, and improve overall game intensity.
• Encourage accuracy and weight of passes despite fatigue – Precision in passing under physical pressure replicates real-game scenarios requiring quick, clean technique.
• Stress sharp, controlled turns around the pole – Maintaining balance and body control reduces injury risk and enhances rapid change of direction ability.
• Reinforce quick mental focus during ball reception – Players must prepare immediately for the second pass while recovering from high-intensity sprinting and turning.
Add a time limit for completing the full sequence
Set a strict time target for sprinting, passing, and turning – This encourages players to perform with greater intensity and efficiency.
Focus: Develops anaerobic endurance, technical sharpness, and the ability to perform under timed pressure, simulating high-tempo match situations.
