Instructions/Setup:
This drill focuses on improving passing accuracy, movement, and ball control through quick and efficient combinations. The practice is set up with 4 balls working simultaneously on a rectangular grid, with players positioned at the corners of the grid. Each player will pass to the next player in the sequence and follow their pass to the next corner, ensuring continuous movement and passing.
Players work on short, sharp passes and quick combinations to move the ball from corner to corner. The drill emphasizes the importance of good first touches, precise passing, and supporting runs after every pass.
Coaching Notes:
• Accurate Passing: Focus on making crisp, accurate passes to teammates, ensuring that the ball reaches its intended target with the correct weight and timing.
• Quick Movement: Players must always follow their pass and immediately make a supporting run to the next corner. Timing and positioning are key to maintaining fluid movement.
• First Touch: Encourage players to take a positive first touch that sets them up for the next pass, helping the flow of the drill remain smooth and fast.
• Communication: Players should communicate with each other to ensure they are aware of when to pass and when to move into the correct position for the next combination.
Progression 1: Introduce One-Touch Passing:
Players are now restricted to using only one touch for each pass. This increases the tempo of the drill and forces players to be more decisive and efficient with their touches.
Focus: This progression helps improve quick decision-making and technical execution under pressure.
