Wales 2v1 Into 3v2 Transition
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 9 | Pitch size: 40x50
In this practice, play begins with a 2v1 attacking scenario where the two attackers work together to score in the main goal against a single defender. The attackers must use quick combinations and smart movement to create scoring chances while the defender focuses on closing space and disrupting the attack.
Once the initial phase ends, the lone defender quickly transitions by running into the next zone to receive a pass from the coach. In this second zone, a 2v2 battle unfolds, creating a 3v2 situation overall. This progression challenges players to adapt rapidly from defense to attack and maintain high intensity throughout continuous play.
• Encourage sharp, quick passing between attackers – Players must keep the ball moving fast to exploit numerical advantage and create clear scoring opportunities.
• Stress defender communication and positioning – The defender should stay alert, anticipate attacker runs, and work to delay or block passing lanes effectively.
• Emphasize rapid transition from defense to attack – Players need to switch mindset and roles quickly, maintaining intensity and awareness during phase changes.
• Reinforce effective movement off the ball – Attackers and defenders should use smart positioning and timing to create space or close down opponents efficiently.
Add a Neutral Player
Introduce a neutral player who always plays with the attacking team, increasing attacking options and encouraging quicker passing decisions.
Focus: Enhance attacking creativity and overloads, improving player awareness and decision-making under pressure.
