Practice Breakdown:

Number of Players: 16 | Pitch size: 30x30

  • This rondo breaks a 352 formation down into specific zones, where the possession team will play 4v2 or 3v2. The #6 is required to slide horizontally to work across both of the bottom 2 zones, while the #10 can be allowed to slide vertically to create 4v2's. The practice transitions into a 6v3 centrally if the pressing team manages to regain possession.

  • • Horizontal Movement of the #6 – The #6 should focus on covering both bottom zones by sliding horizontally. Encourage them to read the game and identify when they should move to create overloads and support the possession game.

    • Vertical Movement of the #10 – The #10 must focus on creating overloads by sliding vertically. This movement is essential to breaking defensive lines and offering a passing option. The #10 should look for opportunities to create 4v2 situations in the top zones.

    • Pressing and Anticipation – The pressing team should focus on cutting off passing lanes and forcing the possession team into difficult areas. They must remain compact and organized, aiming to regain possession quickly and transition into an attacking scenario.

    • Creating Overloads – The attacking team needs to focus on combining passes quickly to maintain possession. By moving the ball around and working together, they can create spaces for a 4v2 or 3v2 in the key zones of the field.

  • Reduced Grid Size

Reduce the size of the grid to increase the intensity of the rondo, forcing players to make quicker decisions and pass the ball faster.

Focus: Speed of passing and decision-making under pressure.

  • Counter-Attack Option

Allow the pressing team to counter-attack immediately if they win possession, transitioning from the 6v3 central overload into a fast attack. The defending team must recover quickly to prevent a successful counter.

Focus: Fast counter-attacking and quick defensive recovery.
