Zagreb Technical Passing & Receiving
ADDED TO FAVOURITES

Practice Breakdown:
Number of Players: 8 | Pitch size: 30x30
In this technical receiving drill, two players begin on opposite sides of a central square. On the coach’s signal, both players move into the square simultaneously to receive a pass from a feeder positioned outside. The focus is on receiving the ball cleanly on the move, taking a positive first touch, and turning away from pressure before passing to a new player on the opposite side.
This drill emphasizes scanning, body orientation, and the ability to receive, turn, and play forward with efficiency. It is ideal as a warm-up or technical activation, promoting repeated, high-quality repetitions of receiving under light directional pressure.
• Body Orientation – Players should arrive with an open body shape, ready to receive on the half-turn and transition quickly into the next pass.
• Scanning Before Receiving – Encourage players to scan their surroundings prior to receiving, allowing better decision-making and spatial awareness.
• First Touch Direction – The initial touch should take the player into space or towards their next action, rather than stopping the ball dead.
• Pass Execution – Focus on clean, accurate passes off both feet with appropriate weight and timing to maintain tempo and rhythm across the grid.
Passive Defender Inside Square
Add a passive defender in the square who applies light pressure, encouraging players to use feints, shielding, or quick turns to evade pressure before passing.
Focus:
Improves composure on the ball, close control in tight areas, and confidence turning away from light pressure realistically.
One-Touch Passing After Turn
Once players turn, challenge them to deliver their return pass with only one touch, demanding quicker processing and sharper body positioning.
Focus:
Develops sharper footwork, faster technical execution, and a greater awareness of space and timing under tighter constraints.
