ACTIVITIES FROM THECOACHESZONE DRILL LIBRARY
BETIS 3 PHASE 3V3
Instructions/Set-Up
This is a dynamic 3-phase attacking drill where two teams will play 3v3. The drill begins with one of the 3 balls in play, and the attacking team looks to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities until the ball goes dead, either through a goal, out of bounds, or a turnover. The ball is then switched, and the attacking team must immediately adapt to the next phase. This continues through three phases, with each phase lasting until the ball is dead.
After completing the third phase, the attacking players will switch out with another set of 3 attackers. The drill emphasizes maintaining attacking intensity, quick decision-making, and seamless transitions between phases. It challenges players to continuously think ahead, stay sharp, and work together to break down the defense while being ready for the next attacking opportunity.
LEIPZIG CONTINUOUS COUNTERING
Instructions/Set-Up
This drill focuses on quick transitions and counter-attacking in tight situations. Play starts with an attacker dribbling towards two defenders, triggering a 3v2 counter attack. The attacking players must work quickly and efficiently to attempt to score within a 7-second time period, emphasizing speed, decision-making, and accuracy.
If the defenders win possession, they must immediately pass the ball across the grid to the other two defenders. These defenders will then combine and attempt to score in the opposite direction. The practice alternates starting positions, so the two defenders will rotate and take turns defending on both sides of the grid, ensuring a varied defensive challenge.
MARSEILLE POSSESSION TO COUNTERING
Instructions/Set-Up
Play begins with a 6v3 possession game in the top half of the grid. The attacking team aims to complete 10 consecutive passes under pressure. Once achieved, they can attempt to score in one of two mini goals positioned just above the possession area, reinforcing patience, movement, and ball control under overload conditions.
If the defending team of 3 wins possession, they must quickly transition by playing a pass into the bottom half of the grid, triggering a 2v2 counter-attacking scenario. The two attackers then drive toward the main goal to finish against a goalkeeper, emphasizing quick transition play, support movement, and clinical finishing.
